We find it really difficult to believe that a locksmith company can charge only a $15 service fee and still remain in business. There has to be a catch to this. If this is all that we charge then it wouldn’t be long at all before we would be out of business.
Is the low service charge that they advertise only a ploy to have you hire them instead of other locksmith companies? Is this low rate a direct reflection of the poor quality of their services? Can you really trust a $15 locksmith service to get the job done right for you?
It’s awful funny but in the real world there is a lot of overhead when running a locksmith business. For instance how about commercial truck insurance, cell phone and landline telephone charges? Then there’s internet charges like for website design, web hosting and internet marketing. Not to mention maintenance and upkeep of your vehicle, keeping your trucks stocked with parts and equipment to get the job done right for your clients. Their $15 service call doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the costs involved in the day to day operations of a business like this.
Perhaps they have some kind of magic wand that they wave over their bills and they all just disappear. Not likely at all! The catch is the fact that they have to pay their bills too or they won’t be in business for very long as services get shut down for non-payment. What they do is hand you a massive bill at the end of the job and claim that the low service rate only covers their travel time to the job. You didn’t really think you were going to get something for next to nothing, did you? If you didn’t ask the right questions before you hired them then you had better be sitting down when they hand you their invoice. Some services will be vague and attempt not to answer any questions about their service rates stating that prices vary according to the job performed. There’s a red flag for sure!
If you can’t get a straight answer on pricing from any company, not just a locksmith company, then maybe your best move is to just move on. Try to locate an upstanding company that is willing to discuss their price structure with you. Anyone with experience should be able to quickly cost out any job for you. If they can’t then they are obviously lacking experience.
We would assume that a low rate locksmith would provide a low rate level of service as well. Most of these companies are just breaking into the market and trying to make a name for themselves. They are eager, hungry for your money and most are fresh out of school and have little to no experience at all. Do you really want someone to learn their trade on your property while you pay them top dollar to do so? Why not hire someone with loads of experience? That way you can be rest assured and have the peace of mind that the job will be done to a professional standard by a qualified locksmith technician.
At the end of the job when they hand you the bill, you’ll feel like you’ve just been robded!
